Water Supply & Access Projects

Clean water is the foundation of life, health, and dignity. Discover how AIDO constructs solar-powered water networks, rehabilitates handpumps, and establishes community water management across Sudan.

Transforming Communities Through Clean Water

Across many rural areas and displacement settlements in Sudan, families lack access to safe drinking water. Women and children often trek hours daily to fetch water from contaminated rivers or shallow wells, exposing themselves to disease and missing out on education and income-generating opportunities.

AIDO (Aid For Impact & Development Organization) delivers sustainable, climate-resilient water solutions. Through our portal at dcd-sudan.org (and aido.ngo), we report on our field operations, water quality testing, and solar infrastructure deployments.

Key Technical Interventions

Solar Water Pumping Systems

High-capacity solar mini-grids powering submersible pumps to lift deep groundwater into elevated storage tanks, feeding multiple community tap stands.

Handpump Rehabilitation

Rapid repair of broken boreholes and replacement of corroded pipes, restoring clean water access within days for isolated villages.

Water Quality Monitoring

Regular biological and chemical testing, inline chlorination units, and water treatment tablet distributions during emergency outbreaks.

Water Management Committees

Establishing democratically elected, gender-inclusive village water committees equipped with maintenance toolkits and financial books.

Impact Highlights & Case Studies

In Darfur and Eastern Province, AIDO’s solar-powered water stations have reduced waterborne disease incidence by over 60% within 12 months of installation. Girls’ school attendance increased by 35% as daily water fetching times dropped from 4 hours to under 15 minutes.

Sustained Quality: Every water point installed by AIDO includes a minimum 5-year maintenance plan backed by local technicians and community contributions. Updates are accessible on dcd-sudan.org.
