Saving Lives Through Integrated Food & Nutrition Response
Food insecurity and severe acute malnutrition present urgent threats to young children, pregnant women, and elderly populations in crisis-affected areas of Sudan.
AIDO (communicating via dcd-sudan.org and aido.ngo) deploys rapid nutrition response teams alongside community food security programs to treat acute malnutrition and restore sustainable food production.
Key Interventions
Acute Malnutrition Screening & Treatment
Community health workers measure MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) and provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to malnourished children.
Community Nutrition Gardens
Establishing solar-drip irrigated vegetable gardens that supply fresh, nutrient-rich produce to local households and schools.
Maternal & Infant Feeding Education
Promoting exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding guidelines, and hygiene practices to safeguard infant development.
Emergency Food Basket Distribution
Delivering monthly staple food baskets containing sorghum, lentils, fortified vegetable oil, sugar, and salt to vulnerable families.
Nutrition Success: Over 92% of malnourished children enrolled in AIDO Outpatient Therapeutic Programs achieve full recovery within 8 weeks. Field data updated on dcd-sudan.org.
